Like Season 2020, Season 2021 was affected by the ongoing Covid pandemic as the State government imposed restrictions on sporting events as part of their "lockdown" approach. In particular Round 16 was initially delayed for 2 weeks then the program redrafted. The match against Port was moved from Round 16 to Round 19 and the other games were moved each one Round earlier than originally planned.

Whilst on a 17 game winning streak from the start of the season Glenelg won every Home match for the first time since 1973. The undefeated run came to an end in the final Home and Away Round against Port Adelaide.
