Ty Allen, who arrived at the Bay from Millicent in the State’s south-east in 2003, was among the League’s premier midfielders.

But he was no overnight sensation. He endured a lengthy apprenticeship as a fringe player and played for four different coaches in his first four trying seasons at Glenelg.

He experienced a Grand Final loss in 2008, which Allen participated in with a busted shoulder, and a host of major round disasters thereafter.

The 2008 and 2010 Club Champion was appointed Captain from the 2012 season, taking over from Ben Mules. Allen held the Captaincy until his retirement at the end of 2014.
