Noel Alexander Avery played 7 seasons with East Perth, twice leading their goalkicking and playing in their 1974 premiership.

He came to Glenelg in 1977, coinciding with the arrival of new coach John Nicholls. His only season with Glenelg was not a spectacular personal success, with Avery missing out on Glenelg's 1977 grand final side.
