Michael Lunniss was a half forward in Glenelg's powerful sides of the late 1970's and early 1980's.

Lunniss played at Marion High School and Glenelg's junior squads from the age of 13. At 17 he was selected in South Australia's Teal Cup (then an Under-17 comp) side and gained All-Australian selection.

He made his League debut in 1979 against Sturt at Unley Oval and had 12 games that season, 2 in 1980, and 12 in 1981. He then had his best season with 27 games in 1982 and topping the Bays goalkicking.
