A State Under 18's Captain, Golding did a pre-season with the Adelaide Crows and was rookie listed.  After some terrific performances in the SANFL, Golding was promoted from the Adelaide Crows Rookie List in 1999. He played seven games for the Crows and was an honest, hard-working performer in the ruck.
