Daniel Kirk came to the Glenelg club from Tasmania at the suggestion of club legend Peter Carey. A mobile ruckman, Kirk also served as a key position player.
He played in Glenelg's losing 2008 Grand Final side.
Faced with the prospect of limited future Senior team appearances, Kirk transferred to Woodville-West Torrens at the end of the 2012 season, but injuries effectively ended his career at that point (see below).
Post SANFL
He took up Para athletics in 2015 at age 32, after recovering from the injury that ended his Australian rules football career.
In 2012 he injured his right ankle while playing Australian rules football for Glenelg. The injury and six subsequent failed operations ended his Australian rules football career and left him with 20% range of movement in his lower leg. He has represented Australia in para athletics.
