Career
Brett Backwell became Glenelg's first Magarey Medallist for 24 years after having a troublesome finger amputated prior to the 2006 season, and going on the David Letterman Show in the USA. Mouse polled 26 votes, 9 more that his nearest rival.
Mouse moved to the SANFL (West Adelaide) in 2002, after being delisted by Carlton despite showing promise and winning the Liston Trophy as the best & fairest in 2001 (Carlton Reserves). In his debut SANFL season he finished 4th in the Magarey Medal.
In 2003 he moved to Glenelg, he made the State side the same year and also in 2005–2006, included the 2003 win over Western Australia, earning him the Fos Williams Medal for a best-on-ground performance.
