Aaron Joseph became a key component of Glenelg's defence over 6 seasons, culminating in a solid 2019 premiership season.

Career

Aaron Joseph commenced his football as a midfielder who played junior football in Tasmania with the Glenorchy Football Club and the Tassie Mariners. He represented Tasmania at the 2007 AFL Under 18 Championships, where he impressed sufficiently to be named on the interchange bench in the Under 18s All-Australian Team. He was selected by the Carlton Football Club in the 2008 Rookie Draft.

Joseph made his debut in the first round of 2009, going on to play every game for the season, win the Blues' Best First Year Player award, and finish tenth in the best and fairest. Promoted from the rookie list to the senior list in the 2009/10 offseason, he had another solid season, playing 22 of 23 games and again finishing tenth in the best and fairest.

Joseph fell out of favour in early 2011, and eventually was delisted by Carlton at the end of the 2013 season.

Moving to Glenelg in 2014, Joseph brought an experienced head to Glenelg's side. He settled into a key role in the defence, acting as an on-field general. Playing 80 games over 6 seasons, Joseph reached the highlight of his career, helping guide the Bays to their first premiership since 1986. The popular Joseph took this as the ideal time to retire at age 30, however at the end of 2020 he announced he would play again with Glenelg, signing a new contract.
