Career
Brian McGowan was a tiny rover with great ball-getting ability. Originally from Barham, NSW, he was an outstanding player for South Melbourne in the VFL, topping their goalkicking in 1961.
Recruited to the Bays for season 1964, along with fellow recruits Colin Rice and Neil Sutherland, he helped get the team to the Finals that year. He went on to top Glenelg's goalkicking in 1965 (54 goals) and in his last season, 1966, he was Captain.
