Glenelg is a foundation team in the inaugural SANFL Women's competition in 2017, along with North, Norwood and West.
The competition expanded rapidly going from 4 teams in 2017 to the current 8 teams in 2019. Coincidentally, 2019 was the first year Glenelg played in Finals in the Women's competition. The competition comprises teams from all non-AFL SANFL Clubs.
