His playing career with Glenelg was punctuated by service in the armed forces in World War II. His most successful season was in his final year in 1947, playing 16 of the 17 games and kicking 11 goals playing mostly at centre-half-forward. He was regarded as a player of much promise, however he died aged in his early 20's during the later part of 1947.
