Ruory Kirkby moved across the border from Echuca in 2006 after being cut from Hawthorn's rookie list.
He became a key member of the successful Bays sides under coach Mark Mickan as a strong-marking tall forward. He played in the Tiger's losing 2008 Grand Final, and was considered one of the most reliable key forwards in the league.
