Starting the season with a strong performance against Norwood at Gliderol Stadium was pleasing.

The playing group acknowledges that for them to perform at optimal level they need an even contribution from every

player. Particularly pleasing was the consistent display of leadership which paved the way to winning every quarter. The players' level of consitency in relation to adherence to structures, style of play, commitment to the contest

and discipline was particularly evident.

The performance was thorough in most aspects of the game but we will be very keen to identify areas for improvement in preparation for a much improved West Adelaide at their home ground on Saturday.

BAYS OFF TO A FLYER FOR SEASON OPENER

TODD Grima booted six goals and Glenelg swept over a summer of torment, blasting hapless Norwood by 76 points at the Bay tonight.

The Tigers - who had more departures than Sydney Airport after a straight-sets finals crash - unleashed a blistering scoring display in the twilight season opener, led by key forward Grima.

Vice-captain Ben Kane was brilliant with 22 disposals and five inside-50s, Kane Tenace impressed in his first appearance and Sam Rudolph, minus his trademark dreadlocks, was at his defensive best.

Matthew Bode showed he lost nothing in his hiatus with three goals, Luke Panozzo rebounded superbly from the back half and overlooked Power onballer Josh Carr impressed in a dominant Glenelg midfield.

Norwood's defeat condemned new coach Nathan Bassett to a first-up loss, and extended the Redlegs' winless streak against the Tigers to seven.

"We had a really good spread of players to find a best player would be impossible," Glenelg coach Mark Mickan said.
