Career
Luke Reynolds, originally from North Haven, was picked up by the Carlton in the 2014 Rookie Draft and played the 2014 season with their VFL affiliate, the Northern Blues. Delisted at the end of the season he returned to Port Adelaide Magpies, where he had played 2 league games before being drafted. He joined Glenelg in 2018 seeking more opportunities to play at league level.
A dead-eye left-foot kick on the run or from a set-shot, Reynolds was an invaluable member of the club’s drought-breaking premiership side in 2019. Edged out for the Ken Farmer Medal by teammate Liam McBean in 2019, he tallied 53 goals for the season after adding eight to his haul of 45 across the minor rounds. Boasting a stunning scoring accuracy of 74 per cent, Reynolds averaged 2.5 goals across the 2019 premiership season while also hauling in a tick under six marks per game.
Possessing a penchant for taking spectacular marks, Reynolds worked nicely in tandem with McBean inside 50m while also pushing further up the ground to use his superb foot skills. He also often dropped back into defence late in quarters to help stem the tide and ensure the opposition didn’t earn an untimely goal.
He is the son of Lewis Reynolds who played with West Adelaide in 1978-80.
