Albert James was Full Back in Glenelg's 1934 Premiership team.

He also won the famous Bay Sheffield sprint in 1935 from fellow Bays player John McCarthy. James had stood out of football for the 1935 season due to work commitments, but he trained "under the capable coaching of W. Brunton, of the Glenelg football team".
