Ben Sawford began his SANFL football life at Port Adelaide as a junior in 2011.

Seeking more League opportunities than were offered by and AFL-Reserves side, Sawford moved to Glenelg for 2016 season.

He played 57 games for Glenelg, but injuries curtailed his 2018 season and he never regained his place in the League side.

He moved to South Adelaide in 2020 for a fresh start.
