After waiting a year for finals redemption, Glenelg inexplicably produced what the club openly admitted was its worst performance of the year in the double-chance final against Norwood. Instead of being fanatical in its desire to win the footy - as was expected - the Tigers froze on the big stage and were second to the ball all day.
Unable to cope with the Redlegs’ well-constructed zone defence, Glenelg went scoreless in the first quarter (remarkably having only one inside-50 to Norwood’s 17) and managed only 1.2 to half-time while its 5.9 was its lowest score of the season.
Only nine players polled club champion votes and no-one kicked more than one goal.
The bitterly disappointing loss after Glenelg finished second on percentage behind minor premier Central was its fourth straight in finals.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“We knew what we wanted to do but could not execute. They shut down our clearance work. We have an opportunity next week, there is strong belief in the group and they will give a response. They were angry with themselves after the game.’
