He was awarded both Best Team Man and Players Player award in 2005 and 2007 and was also Runner up in the Best and Fairest Award in 2007. Ben was first named Captain at just 23 in 2006 and has continued in his role throughout the 2007 and 2008 seasons. βBen has grown into his the role of Captain at the Club to become someone who leads by magnificent example on the field of play, and with true professionalism in his dealings with his team mates, Club supporters and officials away from the playing arena.β Mickan states. Celebrating a milestone alongside the Captain is Matthew Bode who will play his 50th game for the Bays on Saturday.
