Selected by the Sydney Swans in the 1990 pre-draft as a 15 year old zone selection, Ben Aulich did not end up playing any games with them. Moving to Adelaide for economics studies at Flinders University, he took up playing with South Adelaide. He then moved across to Glenelg, playing 12 senior games in 1996.
