Career

Well-travelled in his youth, Rudolph was born in Wagga Wagga, spent his childhood in South Australia and his teenage years in Victoria.

After starting his football at Immanuel College, the family moved to Melbourne, where Rudolph played with the Croydon Football Club through the underage grades. He then followed it with a period at the Eastern Rangers at TAC Cup level at the start of the 2000s, playing alongside future AFL players Kade Simpson, Brad Fisher and Cameron Cloke.

“After my time with the Rangers I went to Queensland and trained with the Lions – playing for Mount Gravatt, where I also won a state jumper in 2003,” the valuable backman said. “Then from 2004 to 2006, I spent three years at the Box Hill Hawks in the VFL.”

There were numerous reasons why Rudolph came back to SA, which included wife Bianca being from Adelaide, his familiarity with the Bay district, the fact the then coach Mark Mickan was one of his teachers at Immanuel Primary School and the fact good mates Ben Kane and Ruory Kirkby, who he played alongside at Box Hill were at the bay.

One of a handful of Glenelg players who sported dreadlocks, Rudolph shaved his head at the start of the 2010 season.
