TIGERS DEFEAT THE BLOODS AT RICHMOND

GLENELG wasted no time brushing aside any thought last year's finals nightmare would be an issue this season with a comprehensive victory over West Adelaide today.

Coming off an impressive thumping of Norwood in the opening round, the Tigers turned up the heat on the Bloods to claim a 26-point win which was more convincing than the margin indicates.

The Tigers, who dropped out of last year's premiership race in straight sets in the finals, recorded a whopping 60 tackles, evidence of their tremendous workrate.

"West Adelaide was very good and they made us work for every goal and every possession," Glenelg coach Mark Mickan said.

Bloods coach Andrew Collins lamented his side's poor decision making, especially taking the ball inside the attacking 50m.

"They got us at the stoppages" Collins said.

"Our turnovers....their pressure was terrific, really good."
