Guernsey Number:

Hannibal Thomas Mitchell "Harold" Lyne was an accomplished all round footballer who perhaps should have accomplished more in the game than he did. He made his league debut with reigning premier Sturt in 1920, and was soon called upon to hold down the difficult centre half forward position. An elegant player who was quick and elusive and marked well, Lyne was also renowned for the pinpoint accuracy of his foot-passing.

Lyne played a total of 69 games for the Blues, kicking 62 goals, including a club list topping tally of 27 in 1922. His last game for Sturt was the losing Challenge Final of 1924 against West Torrens.

In 1925, he crossed to Glenelg, but managed just 11 games and seven goals in two seasons before retiring. He played in Glenelg's first ever League win in Round 1 1925.

Lyne was selected twice for South Australia, kicking three goals.
