Career
Described in the Advertiser as a skilled exponent of the stab kick, Percy Winkler played primarily in the centre or as a forward.
In a memorable Round 14 match in 1936 Winkler kicked 10 goals 2 behinds against West Torrens. The match was part of the Centenary celebrations of European settlement and Centenary silver cups were given to the four best players, two from each side. Winkler and James won them for Glenelg, and Scott and Foote for West Torrens.
