Tony Burgess‎

Biographical

  • Born: 30 January 1961
  • Height: 188 cm
  • Weight: 83 kg

A strong Centre Half Back, Tony Burgess achieved premiership success in 1983 as a player with West Adelaide (coincidentally a team mate of another Glenelg Coach, Mark Mickan). He played for two years with Collingwood with the VFL before rejoining West Adelaide.

Post-playing he undertook several coaching roles from Junior Coach at West, to Assistant Coach at Glenelg, West and South. He also filled the role of Reserves Coach with Glenelg and South. He was Reserves Coach and Assistant Coach at Glenelg to both David Noble and Peter Simmons.

In 2005 he was appointed in a care-taker role for the remainder of the season following the termination of Peter Simmons contract.
