Round 6 2008
From Snoutslouts
GLENELG claimed second spot on the SANFL ladder, clinching a three-point victory over Central District at Challenge Recruitment Oval today.
The Tigers made sure their supporters would not be disappointed at home, fighting off a dogged Central orchestrating a third term charge. The Bulldogs' Daniel Schell – usually a half-back – single handedly lifted the side with a four goal pull in the third and put the reigning premiers back in front after an early lead.
However Glenelg fought back through tough tackles and holding the ball up in their forward 50m, strategies usually actioned by the Bulldogs.
Bays coach Mark Mickan said he was pleased that players "executed the structure and style of game" he had been preaching, yet refused to think of his side as a front runner despite four consecutive wins.
