Norman Torpy was recruited from Broken Hill. Described in The News as "lack(ing) only one thing, and that is height. ... strongly built. Given a chance (he) should develop into a good rover". Norman was speedy and marked well. He played on the wing.
His brother, Leo Torpy also played for Glenelg.
