Malcolm Hailstone was Captain of Willunga 1936 to 1939 and 1946 and 1947. In total he played 159 games from 1930 to 1953. He also represented the local football Association.

Growing up in Willunga he went to work at the slate quarries as a teenager, then drove for Briscoe's Bus service before going into partnership with C B Aldam & Co selling machinery.
