Coach's Comments

Saturday's win over West Adelaide was hard fought. West Adelaide demonstrated in 2009 that they were an improved team and early indications are that that improvement is set to continue. The game was an arm wrestle from the start. The speed of movement of the ball and the pressure applied by both teams was intense. The second quarter was significant when our players moved the ball with speed and precision while continuing to apply good pressure to the opposition. Credit to West Adelaide for their spirited fight back in the third quarter to pull the five goal half time margin back to one goal. There was a very important response during this quarter when our midfield won some vital clearances and a couple of important goals were kicked as a result. Strong on field leadership is important for such a response to occur and this was maintained in the final quarter which made way for a hard earned 26 point win. Thanks to the typically strong Glenelg representation of support at City Mazda last Saturday. We will be looking for a strong four quarter performance against Sturt at House Brothers Oval this Saturday and another excellent Glenelg presence in the crowd.
