Bill Prior was described in a 1953 pre-season review thus: "Has given the Bays great service in variety of positions since cleared by Sturt in 1949. Sure pair of hands, but kicking loses him points at times."
In 1956-57, and then again in 1968, he coached Yankalilla in the Southern Football League.
