ADELAIDE, Tuesday. - Marcus Boyall, the champion Collingwood centre half- back, has accepted a position as assistant to M. Waite, the Australian cricketer, who is curator of the Glenelg oval. He is already at work, and has promised to play cricket and football with Glenelg.

As Boyall has come to Adelaide to improve his employment position it is not expected that he will have any difficulty in obtaining his clearance.

Collingwood Surprised

The Collingwood secretary (Mr. Frank Wraith) expressed surprise yesterday at the departure of Boyall, who had left congenial employment without notifying him. "Perhaps he thought he would like a summer in Adelaide," said Mr. Wraith.

"We will want to know more about it before we discuss any application for a clearance," he added, "but we expect him back before the next football season."

Boyall shared with Ware (Footscray) the honour of winning "The Argus" Cup for the best and fairest player in the League last year.

The visit of the Victorian football team this year was comparatively free from attempts to entice players to transfer to other States.

Mr. A. E. Dummett, manager of the Victorian party, and a Collingwood committeeman, interviewed Marcus Boyall to persuade him to return to his old club, but Boyall informed him that he intended to remain in Adelaide. Mr. Dummett said that, as Collingwood would, not alter its decision, Boyall would have to remain out of football for 12 months.
