Ronald Melville Keane was a tough, dependable centre half-back. He played that position in South Australia’s famous win against Victoria in 1945.

Before joining Glenelg, Keane played in the Amatuers, and represented SA in their win again Vic in 1937.

Following his retirement from playing he coached the Glenelg Colts (Under 17's) in 1947.
