Originally from the Northern Territory, Dom Barry moved to Victoria for school at 14-years-old when he won an indigenous tennis scholarship.

A fringe football player at St Patrick's College entering 2012, he had a remarkable rise to the point where he was being spoken of as a potential second round draft selection before Melbourne secured his services.

Barry didn't play a senior match in his first year with the club, spending the entire year with the Casey Demons. Despite this he toured Ireland with the Indigenous All-Stars team at the end of the season.

After two games midway through 2014 Barry signed a contract extension which kept him at the club until the end of 2016. He played a further three for the rest of the year.

At the end of the season Barry retired, citing a desire to return to the Northern Territory. He played for Federals in Alice Springs in 2015, and Waratahs in the NTFL season.

Played for SANFL side Glenelg in 2017, before being drafted by Port Adelaide. He returned to AFL football in the first round of 2018 and played five further games in his debut season with Port before being delisted again. He then moved to Norwood, playing a couple more seasons.
