Career

Ben Thompson had a late start to his career, not beginning at Glenelg until 1996. Primarily a defender, he also played as a key forward, winning the best and fairest award that year. After another season Thompson was selected by St Kilda in the 1997 National Draft, with pick 48. He made 11 appearances for St Kilda over his first two seasons, then returned to Glenelg in 2001. Injuries limited his opportunities on return to the Bay and he retired in 2002.
